How to eat this

High cholesterol
  • Peanut masala is the better bar snack. Its fats are mostly unsaturated.
  • Beef dry fry carries about 12 g of saturated fat per ⅓-cup share. Have a few pieces only.
  • Choose the seafood grill over the fried snacks. Grilling is the leanest cooking on the menu all weekend.
Diabetes
  • Peanut masala is low in carbohydrate and high in protein, the best choice with drinks.
  • Never drink on an empty stomach. Alcohol can push blood sugar low overnight, especially for anyone on insulin or sulfonylurea tablets (e.g. glipizide, glimepiride).
  • Kerala mixture is about 45% carbohydrate. One small handful.
High blood pressure
  • Chaat masala and black salt make the peanuts salty, and the snacks add about 1,250 mg on top of dinner.
  • Alcohol raises blood pressure. See the cocktail bar page for the per-drink numbers.
Smart choices for everyone
  • Serve yourself into a small bowl rather than eating from the tray.
  • Alternate every drink with a glass of water.
